During World War II, Sir David Attenborough served in the Royal Navy and was initially interested in becoming a pilot.

His poor eyesight prevented him from pursuing this dreamland, Instead, he found himself working as an administrative assistant in the Royal Navy’s Air Department.

Despite the disappointment of not becoming a pilot, the experience allowed him to travel and broaden his horizons.

After the war, Attenborough attended Clare College, Cambridge, where he studied natural sciences.

His education laid the foundation for his future career in broadcasting and natural history.

During his time at Cambridge, he also became involved in the Footlights, a well-known theater club, where he met and befriended other future British entertainment legends, including John Cleese and Graham Chapman.
