10. Thomas Halliday

Kicking off our list and we delve into the case of despicable Thomas Halliday, an 87 year old man who was convicted of 234 counts of sexual abuse, creating and possessing child pornography, abusing a teenage girl for four years and filming and photographing the abuse.

The judge, it is safe to say, was not impressed with Halliday’s crimes and the court threw the book at him, resulting in a sentence of 1870 years with a minimum of 935 years to be served before being considered for parole.

Prosecutors said Halliday began abusing the girl in 2009, when she was 14 and the sentence was by far the longest to have ever been handed down in the state of Pennsylvania.

Its more than safe to say that Mr Halliday wont be seeing the parole board.

9. Moses Sithole

South African serial killer and rapist Moses Sithole is another one of life’s decrepit human beings, and spent seven years in prison during his early life for rape.

Appearing to be a mild-mannered individual to those around him, Sithole was busy committing murders in Atteridgeville, near Pretoria, Boksburg and eventually to Cleveland.

By 1995 he had killed over 30 people and a nationwide panic had ensued that even led to President Nelson Mandela appealing for public assistance in apprehending the killer.

Sithole targeted black women between the ages of 18 and 45 years old while most of his victims were being interviewed for positions within his company.

Sitole claimed he murdered over 76 victims, double the reported disappearances and he was cornered in Johannesburg after attacking a constable with a hatchet.

While it was no surprise that he was found to be HIV positive, Sitole was sentenced to 2,410 years languishing in C-Max, the notorious maximum security prison section of Pretoria Central Prison.

8. Ronnie Shelton

Better known as The West Side rapist, Ronnie Shelton was convicted of raping over 30 women in Cleveland, Ohio, over a 6 year period.

Some reports suggest he may have raped up to 50 women after breaking into their homes with a face covering and telling them they were about to be robbed.

He would demand victims not look at him while he committed his crimes and his behaviour later led to his arrest.

He was found guilty of 220 charges, including 49 rapes of over 30 women in Cleveland, Ohio and the sentence of 3,195 years in prison he received is officially the longest ever handed down in Ohio.

7. Henri Parot

A member of the Basque separatist terrorist group ETA, Henri Parot was accused of 26 murders and 166 attempted murders between 1978 and 1990.

He was arrested on April 2, 1990 in Seville after an exchange of gunfire with the Spanish police and was convicted of involvement in the 1987 Zaragoza Barracks bombing which killed 11 people.

After he was found guilty of the 1978 and 1990 timeline murders he was handed a 4,797 year prison sentence, one of the longest ever in Spain, with him later being convicted of a further 45 counts of murder.

6. Rigoberto Vazquez Hernandez

Convicted of a 2013 triple homicide also considered Capital Murder, outside a nightclub in Dallas where he shot three people point blank range, Rigoberto Vazquez Hernandez was handed one of the longest ever sentences in Texas History.

With a maximum sentence of 7000, years without parole, he is currently incarcerated at the James V Allred Unit in in Wichita Falls, Texas, one of the largest maximum security facility’s in the USA.

Believe it or not, his estimated prison release date is listed as 01/01/5555!

5. Darron Bennalford Anderson

Darron Bennalford Anderson is another one of the most dangerous people in society who will never be leaving prison.

Convicted of crimes ranging from rape of an elderly woman in Tulsa County, to larceny, robbery and even kidnapping, he was initially sentenced to 2,250 years in prison.

What makes his case unique is that on appeal he was given an additional jail term of 9,500 years and this was later reduced by 500 years.

Its thought to be the longest amount of jail time ever given as a result of an appeal and takes his total jail time to a mind numbing 11,250 years, well for him anyway!

4. Allan Wayne McLaurin

If you thought the sentence of Darron Bennalford Anderson was long then spare a thought for his accomplice, Allan Wayne McLaurin, who was also indicted, charged and found guilty of the same crimes.

It would appear that the court did not make the same mistakes of Darron Anderson’s initial sentence and he received a total jail term of close to 20,750 years.

This is by far the second longest sentence ever received in the United States and the second longest in Oklahoma’s history.

3. Charles Scott Robinson

Sentenced to 5,000 years for each of the six counts against him for raping a 3-year-old girl, Charles Robinson is considered to be one of the most dangerous rapists in the United States.

He received what is considered to be the longest jail term given to a single American on multiple counts and the longest prison sentence ever handed-down in the United States.

Most of the crimes involved cannot be mentioned here, they are that severe and his sentence was handed down in December 1994.

2. Jamal Zougam

One of six men implicated in the 2004 Madrid train bombings, Jamal Zougam was accused of multiple counts of murder, attempted murder, stealing a vehicle, belonging to a terrorist organisation and four counts of carrying out terrorist acts.

Three witnesses testified to seeing him leave a rucksack aboard one of the bombed trains and he was arrested on the 13th March 2004.

On 31 October 2007, he was convicted of 191 charges of murder and 1,856 charges of attempted murder, and received a sentence of 42,922 years in confinement, the second largest sentence ever handed down in Spain.

His accomplice, Khoi Doan, actually received a higher sentence of 42,924 years, 2 years more than Zougam.

1. Terry Nichols

Considered to be the second largest sentence ever handed down on earth, Terry Nichols was convicted of 161 counts of first-degree murder, first-degree arson, and conspiracy by the state court of Oklahoma.

His role in the Oklahoma City Bombing saw him receive 161 life sentences without parole, a single record for most consecutive life sentences ever given to a single individual.

Nichols can be found serving his almost 50,000 year sentence in ADX Florence super-max prison, nicknamed the Alcatraz of the Rockies, where he spends 23 hours a day in solitary confinement.

This is Chamoy Thipyaso, an employee of the Petroleum Authority of Thailand who was convicted of one of the biggest pyramid scheme’s in Thailand’s history.

Thipyaso’s scheme was so large that it involved many large banks, parts of the Air Force and members of the Thai Royal Household and was not shut down until the mid-1980’s.

A total of 16,231 clients were involved and after her arrest, Thipyaso was held in secret by the air force for several days.

On 27 July 1989 Thipayaso and seven accomplices were convicted of corporate fraud and she was handed a sentence of 141,078 years imprisonment, however the maximum she could serve under law was 20 years.

She was released just 8 years later however the sentence she received is today recognized as one of the worlds Longest Prison Sentences
